My art is now on display on Capitol Hill in a small art museum. Over the past year I’ve donated several of my shoe art prints to the Girls Gotta Run Foundation, Washington, DC to help them raise money. The Executive Director, Pat Ortman, regularly holds art shows, mostly in the Washington, DC area at some beautiful venues. These shows have included my artwork. This summer they have a show at the beautiful Sewall-Belmont House and Museum across the street from the Supreme Court Building.
Check out these photos of the opening on June 18 and see if you can spot my work. Keep looking down the page and it will be much easier to spot the photo of Katie Couric in attendance at her VIP Reception. Even better, the art sells and I’ve developed a small but important following for my work and the foundation. I’m happy to help them out. My shoe art seems to fit in well with the theme of the shows.

This view is looking south from the Ritz Carlton Hotel. The drop to the beach from where I stood was far. There was a stairway going down in the distance for sun bathing on the sand. The texture and colors here, kind of a departure for me on this one are muted. I got my inspiration from some of the beautiful art inside the hotel. The roughness of the cliff, the red ice plant and choppy water below captured my imagination and this is the result. Further down the coast I came upon an entire painting workshop. Lots of easels set up and the artists were doing their best.

The eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountains has some remarkable close up views of snow capped peaks. This scene on the Owens River is a favorite of mine because of the “S” curve of the water, trees, and mountain view plus the fly fisherman. A guy could do a lot worse.

Well, okay they are probably condos but they are at a great California beach front and they are colorful. This scene is a little bit of a departure for me because it does contain some figures. Somehow when I see this place I feel good about where I am and want to enjoy the sand, water, and sun. There are some good places to eat here too. Think summer.

No question, the enjoyment of wine and cheese goes across many cultures. For me trying to capture some of that feeling in my art has been a challenge. This latest work uses the backdrop of my kitchen tiles with a half loaf of my favorite bread. There are even a few olives too, just to make it complete. There are several different versions of this work and I would appreciate any feedback on your favorite version.
